Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking a skilled Specials Electrical Engineer to join their client's dynamic team. This position is located in a fast-paced environment where innovation and technical expertise are highly valued. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and be responsible for managing special orders and ensuring high-quality production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Create a cost analysis for proposed special orders and determine lead time for the build or modification.
  • Determine whether a customer's design or functionality request is possible.
  • Create and/or provide technical drawings for special orders and fixtures, when requested.
  • Determine and source parts and materials needed for special builds.
  • Pot connectors and other components using 2-part epoxies.
  • Conformal coat, program, and test, PCBA's.
  • Generate schematics, bill of materials, machine and assembly drawings, labels, artwork, and instructions, when applicable.
  • Ensure product quality, reliability, and safety in all aspects of production from engineering to assembly.
  • Ensure all directions in work instruction for the role are adhered to.
  • Ensure required documentation is received and reviewed prior to starting any project.
  • Provide technical support to other departments and customers.
  • Accurately manage, update, and send special order progress reports.
  • Communicate any delay exceeding the communicated due date to applicable parties.
  • Communicate to all interpersonal departments, management, and customers using proper business etiquette in a timely manner.
  • Train new/other team members.
  • Any other assignments or projects designated by Management.
  • Adhere to established KPI's.
  • Perform root cause analysis on production and field failures.
  • Build & test prototypes.
  • Provide special order build direction to the Electromechanical Assembler ensuring adherence to requirements and a high level of quality.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of materials including adhesives, potting materials, plastics, and metals is preferred.
  • Proven track record providing technical direction, guidance, and expertise.
  • Technical design/leadership and management of projects including external contractors, partners, and suppliers.
  • Familiarity or some level of programming experience with C and C++.
  • Substantial soldering experience lead-free, through-hole, and surface mounted PCBA.
  • Must have analog audio knowledge and the ability to download programs into microprocessors.
  • Must be able to read and understand schematics.
  • Customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to machine with manual machines, preferred.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot at the component level of digital analog circuit boards.
  • Ability to create design documentation and work independently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook and Excel.
  • Draftsight, Autocad, and Syteline experience ideal.
  • Experience building prototypes.
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and order due dates.
  • Must be able to test, inspect, and troubleshoot electronic circuitries by the use of test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and digital multi-meter.
  • 3D modeling utilizing Solidworks is a plus.
  • Must have electronics knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting of sophisticated systems to include circuit issues, EMC/ESD mitigation.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of three years as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Some mechanical experience preferred.
  • Project Management experience helpful.
  • 4-year Engineering Degree required.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 1st Shift

Annual Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 depending on qualifications
